Buckle up for safety as we left Mark and Lynnette's driveway on Saturday August 31, 2008

Just above my head is Fort Bridger and the location that I received a speeding ticket. Woops! That was my first one in over 25 years. Can't say I didn't deserve it though. Darn it!
Dinner our first night out at OutBack in Cheyenne, Wy.

We got to park in the handicap spaces all week. We also got to enjoy a AARP discount at the hotels thanks to Mother Maxine
Crossing back into Nebraska from Iowa to Winter Quarters also known as Florence, NE.
Temple at Winter Quarters

A museum that serves as a landmark along the way heading into Kearny, Nebraska
Bishop Dave still conducting bishop business on the road. How did we ever manage before cell phones
Our hotel was just a block away from the temple. You can see the top of the temple in the mid left portion of this photo. Anyone going to Nauvoo looking for lodging...I highly recommend staying at Hotel Nauvoo. If you go after labor day the rates are a little lower and plenty of rooms available. Ask for one of the suites in the front of the hotel. It's on the second floor and no elevator available so make sure you can climb the steps.
Nauvoo Temple just prior to sunset. It's amazing how the building absorbs the colors around it depending on the light outside. This was kind of a purple sunset behind us so you can see a pink tint to the bricks. The temple is beautiful inside with a full spirial staircase from the floor to the top floor.
This statue is of Joseph and Hyrum Smith depicting their last ride out of Nauvoo before they went to the Carthage jail.
